David Walker

“Drawing parallels with the end of the Roman empire, Mr. Walker warned there were ‘striking similarities’ between America’s current situation and the factors that brought down Rome, including ‘declining moral values and political civility at home, an over-confident and over-extended military in foreign lands and fiscal irresponsibility by the central government.”
David Walker is President and CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation (March of 2008) where he is at the forefront of promoting financial responsibility on a federal level in an effort to create opportunities for an improved financial future as a nation. Before his role in the Peterson Foundation, Mr. Walker served close to 10 years as the Comptroller for the General of the United States and was head of the United States Government Accountability Office (appointed by Bill Clinton). He serves on various boards, including The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board’s Advisory Committee as well as the Trilateral Commission.
David Walker co-authored “I.O.U.S.A.: One Nation. Under Stress. In Debt.” and also has another book expected to be released in January 2010 entitled “Comeback America.” The Peterson Foundation is one of the main drivers in the I.O.U.S.A.
DVD documentary that we have in our Videos section, where Walker is a frequent writer and commentator for the project itself. The Daily Middle recommends David Walker for his consistent strife to awaken Americans to the wasteful government spending and swelling costs of our own financial actions and responsibilities.
